Income Distribution and Accumulation Regime. The Case of Italy

Abstract
 
Since the 1980s, there has been a significant decline in the wage share in developed and developing countriesThe growing inequality in the distribution of income has been particularly significant in Italy. The paper investigates the effects of a change in the wage share on aggregate demand in Italy. It allows identifying the accumulation regime of the Italian economy, assessing the relevance of taking into account income distribution and aggregate demand to push the country toward a path of sustainable and balanced economic growth.
