Leadership, Values and the Peranakans

Abstract
In this qualitative paper, the academician-practitioner researches the leadership qualities, style(s) and ways of
the Peranakans, an indeed dwindling community in Singapore. Based on the author’s interviews with a small
group of Peranakans’ professionals, the paper is also boosted and enhanced with the author’s cultural
background as a Peranakan himself, and his own impressions and perceptions of the Peranakan leadership in
Singapore; in brief, the paper is examined in the light as what the interviewees and the author see it.
