Abstract
The objective of this article is to analyze the socialization process of migration among the Mexican child
population. We reflect on the context (social and economic) which circumscribes this sector of the population,
and present statistics that show the number of boys and girls in the country, the number of children that have a
role in migration between Mexico and the United States, the number of repatriates and their goals, issues, and
participation in the workforce. We focus special attention on the child population in the state of Guanajuato, and
we underline the need for social scientists to undertake studies, with an interdisciplinary approach, focusing on
this vulnerable sector that participates in migration.
