Abstract
Over the past decades scientific evidence has shown the human influence on the variations that Earth´s climate
system is experiencing. The main cause of climate change is due to the increases in the atmosphere of
anthropogenic concentrations of greenhouse gases, which is altering Earth's energy balance. The certainty of
global environmental change contrasts with the large number of resulting uncertainties, both physical and
human. In this article some of the main uncertainties related to the behavior of natural carbon sinks as well as the
regional socioeconomic impact of these uncertainties are discussed.
